Sexual and Reproductive Health Day 2009!

Celebrate Sexual and Reproductive Health Day 2009 by picking up condoms and safer sex supplies from our condom crew gals who will be on campus at UVic in the University Centre on Thursday Feb 12, 2009 10am-1pm and Camosun in the Fisher building on Friday Feb 13, 2009 11am-2pm. Look for Kirsten and Danielle who will happily arm you with everything you need just in time for Valentine’s Day!

Camosun College is open Tuesday Mornings from 9-12 (and Thursday afternoons!) for exam and consult appointments! If you wish to book an appointment at our Camosun College location, you can do so by calling our regular number 250-592-3479.

Upcoming Parent Evenings

Please join us for our upcoming free parent education sessions entitled, “Be an Approachable, Knowledgeable Parent.” The session is designed to update parents on adolescent sexual health issues. Registration at each session is limited and will be accepted by email. Email educator@islandsexualhealth.org

We have confirmed three dates all beginning at 7:00 pm:
Tuesday October 21 at Gordonhead Rec Centre (sd 61),
Tuesday October 28 at GVPL (Juan De Fuca branch – Colwood) (sd 62)
Tuesday Nov 4 at Central Saanich Cultural Center 1209 Clarke Rd Brentwood Bay, (sd 63)

Each session is scheduled to be 1.75 hours long in duration with the first 30 minutes being an overview on approaching adolescent sexuality and tips for effective communication followed by a 15 minute break and then a 45-60 minute open floor discussion with our panel (Dr. Lara Eaton, MD, Heather McAdam, RN, Jennifer Gibson, MA, and Kyla Smyth) on adolescent sexual health issues such as STI prevention, contraception, and myth busting etc.

Camosun Clinic Open with Extended Hours!

ISHS’s Richmond House Clinic on the Landsdowne campus at Camosun has re-opened with extended hours. Effective September 4, the clinic on the top floor of Richmond House will be open and running Tuesdays from 9 am-12 pm and Thursdays from 1:30-4:30 pm. Services available include birth control prescriptions and dispensing at reduced prices, Emergency Contraception (Morning After Pill), PAP and Pelvic exams, STI testing and treatment, testicular and breast exams, and free condoms. EVERYONE WELCOME. Drop in appointments are welcome.
